Two luminous South Sea pearls are suspended beneath crescents of natural diamonds, set in sculpted 18K yellow gold. Each elongated gold form is carved with a scale motif drawn from ancient Italian architecture, its repeating rhythm catching the light like water.

The Latin expression alma mater means “nourishing mother.” Here, Alma Mater is larger than one person: it is the primordial shelter of love, protection, and belonging every life deserves. It may be the care you received, the care you wished to receive, or the care you learned to create within yourself and offer to others. To wear Alma Mater is to carry that shelter with you—as inner strength, as belonging, and as love carried forward.

Each pearl is hand-selected and carefully matched from among many to compose a singular pair of earrings.

  • The Hallmarks. Each earring bears three small marks that tell the piece’s own story: CF, Colette’s signature; 750, denoting 18-karat gold; and Italy, where the piece is shaped by hand.
  • The Pearls and Diamonds. Each South Sea pearl is formed by a living oyster and individually selected. Because no two pearls are identical, we carefully match each pair for harmony in shape, color, luster, and presence. Subtle natural variations belong to the singular beauty of your earrings. Natural diamonds are individually set along each crescent, bringing points of light to the sculpted gold.
  • The Symbol. The pearl represents the beauty born in darkness, one luminous layer at a time. The crescent moon symbolizes the guidance that helps you move forward when the way is not yet clear. The natural diamonds are points of light: the people, moments, and truths you encounter throughout life and use as reference points along your way. Drawn from ancient Italian architecture, the scale motif evokes continuity and the protection you received, wished to receive, or learned to create within yourself, and also reminds you of the nourishing sea.
